Having been released in 2015 April, the 5.5 inch Lenovo K80 is moderately priced in Kenya. If you compare its specs and price, it has a lot to offer.
This review looks at the main strengths of Lenovo K80 smartphone.
Price in Kenya: Kshs. 17,000.
4G Support
Safaricom, at the present time is offering 4g network in Kenya. With the Lenovo K80 you will have the fastest browsing speed being offered in the country.
You just have to visit any Safaricom Customer Care for the upgrade to a sim card that supports LTE.
Screen
People are very sensitive when it comes to the screen specs their phones.
The K80 comes with a 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution.
The pixel density is 401 ppi. This is crisp and clear screen that just looks amazing.
If you are upgrading from a lower resolution phone, you will certainly notice a huge difference.
Disadvantages
The only huge disadvantage of this phone is the fact that the battery is not removable. While this might not be a huge disadvantage to some, it may put off others. Personally I usually love to purchase two batteries with any phone I buy.
This is specifically so that when the other drains, I can quickly swap it for the one with juice.
On the positive side, the phone has 4000mAh battery which I can guarantee will last a full day on a single charge.
Ram
The smartphone is available in two variants. A 2GB and a 4G ram variation. The 2GB one is safe to buy currently because there are not many apps that will take up that much ram. However, buying the 4GB one is for future proofing.
To add to that, if you are the type of person who stays with a phone for 2 years, you should definitely purchase the type that comes with 4GB though it is more expensive as compared to its brother.
Internal memory
I remember a few years ago when having 8GB of internal memory was enough for any android device. This has change in the recent years.
You can either buy the 32 GB or the 64 GB memory capacity phone. in Kenya, having an internal memory capacity of 32GB is enough if you don’t take like 50 pictures a day. In my opinion, the average person in Kenya never nears the ability to use the this much space on a phone.
If you are going for the 64GB version, it’s purely for future proofing or if you are transfer large files using your phone.
Another disadvantage of this phone is that it does not come with a memory card slot so you won’t have the ability to expand your storage using a memory card, nonetheless, the phone memory is enough for majority of people.
Camera
Taking photographs is a feature that any smartphone should have. The primary camera is 13MP which should take nice photographs.
The secondary camera has 5MP which is a little bit less for the current standards.
