This laptop made by HP and the screen size is 16.6 inch with a 500 GB internal hard drive. It is sold at 38,000 on Jumia Kenya. At this price point, I would say that this is a very good deal if you compare its specs with other laptops. The most notable being, that it has Intel core i3.
What is the performance.
The laptop has 4GB of random access memory (RAM). This is essential for multi-tasking and laying light games. If this amount does not satisfy you, you can opt to add more, in Nairobi 4 GB of RAM is around Kshs 2,000.
So, you can take it up to 16 GB if you wish to. This is quite appropriate for a normal user. The intel core i3 processor will also ensure that programs are run without hanging.
The processor is clocked at 2.1 Ghz, to add to the sweetness, it is 5th generation which means it is one of the latest processors by Intel in Kenya. I would not recommend anything below 2.0 Ghz clock speed for laptops, unless it’s an ultrabook.
However, don’t expect this laptop to run AAA games since it does not have a dedicated graphics card. It has is the Intel HD Graphics 5500.
This laptop is most appropriate for those whose purpose will be editing documents, watching movies and browsing. For example, first year students at the university, might find this as the most suitable laptop.
Storage options
The laptop comes with 500GB of internal memory storage. For normal users, this is quite enough. In my own personal experience, this amount of internal memory can serve a person well as long as you don’t have many movies and series on the device. By many, I mean something like 200 movies and 150 series.
That is a rough estimate on the number that will be able to fill the capacity of the laptop. this number is arrived at by assuming that a single movie is 1GB and a single season is 2GB. (We did not include the OS in this assumption.
Battery Capacity and Life.
This is one of the most essential features in any laptop. the battery is Lithium ion and has 4 cells. With a rated battery life of 2 hours, when a black out occurs, you don’t have to worry about it going off after 30 minutes.
